  Jokowi said data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health showed that booster vaccinations "played a very important role" in improving immunity and preventing the spread of the new coronavirus, especially for the elderly and vulnerable groups.

  According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, as of that day, more than 200 million people in the country have been vaccinated against the new crown vaccine, of which more than 167 million people have completed two doses and more than 45.41 million people have received a third booster dose.

  Jokowi said that the current epidemic situation in Indonesia is easing, social activities have basically returned to normal, and the economy has begun to operate again.

He reminded all parties to "don't be careless" and try to maintain this good momentum to promote economic recovery.

  On the same day, Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that if the epidemic continues to be effectively controlled, the people of the country may "completely take off their masks" in June.

  Since the 18th of this month, the Indonesian government has relaxed the epidemic prevention regulations of wearing masks, allowing people to wear masks when they are outdoors and the crowd is not crowded; however, people still need to wear masks indoors or when taking public transportation.

Domestic and foreign travelers who have completed two or more doses of the new crown vaccine do not need to undergo nucleic acid and antigen testing.

Sadikin said the above epidemic prevention policy adjustment is part of the government's transition from downgrading the new crown pneumonia from a pandemic to an endemic epidemic.

  On the same day, the Indonesian National Immigration Bureau announced the policy of opening the entry visa on arrival to 12 countries and regions. So far, the country has implemented the entry visa on arrival policy for 72 countries and regions, including China. Passengers from these countries and regions can pass the Indonesia has 9 airports, 11 sea ports and 4 land ports to enter Indonesia.

  Indonesian officials announced that afternoon that in the past 24 hours, there were 218 new confirmed cases of the new crown in the country, with a total of 6,054,633 confirmed cases; 12 new deaths and a total of 156,586 deaths.
