The municipal upper secondary school in Nyköping would prevent segregation but has instead become a school with significantly more children with a foreign background than the large independent schools in the city.

Here, more than every third student has a foreign background, while at Enskilda grundskolan and Kunskapsskolan it is rather every tenth.

In Nyköping, there has been only one municipal high school since 2015.

Nyköping's high school is divided into two buildings, Alpha and Omega.

Here, classes have been put together with regard to socio-economic and ethnic background to reduce segregation, but at the same time our survey shows that the gap between the municipal upper secondary school and the independent upper secondary schools is increasing.
