The gendarme suspected of having killed a robber in a service station in Seyssinet-Pariset, near Grenoble (Isère), this Friday was released this Saturday.

He had been placed in police custody immediately after the facts, reports France 3 Rhône-Alpes.

After being heard, the soldier was able to return to his home.

This Friday, the gendarmes intervened around 5 p.m. in a Total station for a robbery.

They had to open fire on the suspect, a 63-year-old man who was visibly armed.

It was a “neighbor who regularly came to buy alcohol” here, explained the public prosecutor of Grenoble this Sunday.

The unfolding of the facts still to be established

The assailant, who did not survive the shooting of the soldiers, would have "fired a shot inside the business" without causing any casualties, added the prosecution.

Several videos have been circulating on social networks since this weekend.

We see the robber sitting on the ground, his arms in the air, before the detonations of firearms are heard.

The suspect is then seen lying on the ground, seriously injured.

"The gendarme explains that the robber continued to threaten him with his weapon despite his requests to drop his weapon", specifies the press release from the prosecutor, who invited the authors of the videos to send them to the General Inspectorate of the National Gendarmerie (IGGN ).

An investigation is underway into the facts.
