As a traditional Chinese folk custom with a long history, dragon boat racing is deeply loved by the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
It is reported that the dragon boat race, the highlight of this event, will start on June 2 at the Dragon Boat Pool in Jimei District, Xiamen City.
More than 1,000 players from 41 teams from both sides of the Taiwan Strait will ride the wind and waves and fight the water together, including 24 teams from mainland China and 17 teams from Taiwan compatriots.
The competition is divided into the 300-meter straight race and the Chinese Dragon Boat Tug-of-War Open. The opening ceremony and the traditional "finishing ceremony" of the dragon boat competition will be held on the morning of the Dragon Boat Festival on June 3. The finals and the award ceremony will also appear on the same day.
The "Dragon Rising and Tiger Leaping" 2022 cross-strait dragon boat race will also hold a number of cultural activities, including the 2022 cross-strait youth dragon boat model competition, dragon boat battle array, and the 18th cross-strait Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Forum.
This cross-strait dragon boat race is jointly sponsored by the Social Sports Guidance Center of the State Sports General Administration, the Film Channel Program Center, the Chinese Dragon Boat Association, the Fujian Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Xiamen Municipal People's Government.
The finals will be broadcast live on the CCTV5+ sports event channel and CCTV6 movie channel on the integrated media platform, and on the new media platforms belonging to the major media in the central government.
