- There are three assembled barns burning.

It is a heavy fire with a lot of smoke.

We are on site with several resources, says internal commander Patrik Nilsson at the rescue service south to SVT Nyheter Skåne.

According to the rescue service, there are gas cylinders in at least one of the buildings.

A large area was therefore cordoned off due to the risk of explosion.

- There are currently no reports that there are people or animals in the buildings, said Patrik Nilsson, internal commander, shortly after rescue personnel arrived at the fire-ravaged buildings.

Police and an ambulance were also alerted to the scene.

The smoke rises from a large fire at a nursery north of Lund.

Housing was evacuated and roads were closed

Homes near the fire site were evacuated and according to the Swedish Transport Administration, most roads at the height of Stångby have been closed due to the fire.

Train traffic has also been affected with canceled departures between Stångby and Lund.

But at 17 o'clock the trains ran as usual again, according to Skånetrafiken.

- The barns may burn down under controlled conditions.

We are now working and planning with the police about what the continued roadblocks in the area will look like during the evening, says the rescue service's internal commander Patrik Nilsson at 15.30 to SVT.

The police have reduced the roadblocks

There is no information on injuries.

The rescue service expects to be on site in Stångby throughout Sunday evening.

The police write on their website that the incident is initially classified as a serious arson, but there is no suspect.

- We still have the roadblocks, but they have shrunk.

We will remain on site for as long as we need.

It will be a technical investigation, but it will not get rid of today, says Patric Fors at the police command center.

It is currently unclear how the fire started.
