Egypt: Life and rigorous imprisonment sentences against 25 people for incitement against the state

Today, Sunday, an Egyptian court sentenced former presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, the acting guide of the terrorist Brotherhood, Mahmoud Ezzat, and 23 others to life in prison, in the case of "incitement against the state."

The Criminal Court held in Tora today sentenced 14 defendants to life imprisonment, nine, including Abul-Fotouh and Ezzat, to 15 years in prison, and two to 10 years in hard labor.

The court decided to include the defendants on the lists of terrorism on the grounds that they were accused of "harming the national interests of the country, and assuming leadership of a group established in violation of the provisions of the law."

The Public Prosecution had assigned the defendants "the charges of planning to commit a number of terrorist crimes and armed attacks on state facilities and institutions, in a way that would spread chaos in the country, which requires investigation with the knowledge of the Public Prosecution."
