The Director of Medical Affairs at the Center for Endocrinology and Infertility in Dubai, Dr. Awatef Al-Bahr, warned those who are about to get married against indulging in taking slimming and weight-reducing drugs, such as Zincal, and using ovarian stimulants for the purpose of accelerating childbearing, and she also warned against performing liposuction, pointing out that it may lead to death.

She told "Emirates Today" that at least 20% of women who request steroids before marriage to activate their eggs and increase their number, with the aim of doubling the possibility of childbearing, are young.

She added that most of these women take ovarian stimulants, as well as using panadol, aspirin, or other pain-relieving drugs, without medical supervision or obtaining advice from a specialist.

Al-Bahr confirmed that “there are private clinics that dispense these steroids to the patient without ascertaining the extent of her actual need for them, and determining their suitability for her,” noting that “women of young ages have enough time to repeat attempts to have children, but most private clinics seek to satisfy patients, for the purpose of profit.”

Al-Bahr explained that ovarian stimulants are an estrogen-like compound that combines with estrogen receptors in the brain, uterus and ovaries, suggesting to the brain a drop in the level of estrogen in the blood, which works to send a signal to the pituitary gland to secrete certain hormones to stimulate ovulation and the release of eggs.

She advised those who are about to get married, and those who wish to double the possibility of childbearing, to give themselves an adequate opportunity before resorting to the option of steroids, especially those of young ages, considering that pregnancy occurs when the appropriate conditions are available for that by choosing the appropriate time and place.

She warned that ovarian stimulants, when used repeatedly and without monitoring, can cause an ovarian cyst, an early loss of eggs through early ovulation, in addition to excessive ovulation, and may cause the ovary to lose its work and stop its work, and it has many side effects in the patient.

Al-Bahr said that medical drugs that can be described as dangerous are used to lose weight in a short period, such as the drug Zincal, which leads to permanent depression and severe heart rhythm disturbances, noting that the drug Zincal prevents the absorption of about 30% of the amount of fat that is eaten, and causes Next in reducing the calories entering the body and losing weight.

She warned against following harsh diets before marriage, taking laxatives, and performing liposuction operations, because of their dangers to the patient's life, as suctioning six liters of fat from the patient's body may lead to his death, stressing the importance of starting before marriage in organizing the course. Menstruation to avoid many diseases, including osteoporosis, which the patient can suffer after 40 days of menopause.

She also advised to take a vaccine against the viruses that cause cervical cancer, and to conduct early detection tests for breast cancer, as it may affect girls in their twenties, and there is one case of infection recorded daily.
