  The U.S. infant formula out-of-stock rate hit 30 percent in April, rose to 43 percent in early May, and then climbed to 70 percent, according to retail data firm Datasembly.

  The supply shortage was reportedly exacerbated by the shutdown of Abbott Nutrition's Michigan plant.

The factory is expected to reopen on June 4, and its products may not be back in stores until mid-July, depending on the production schedule.
