With these words, Möller spoke on the air of the Berlin direct program on the ZDF television channel, explaining "why Germany does not supply Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine."

“It is a common position not only in the federal government, but also in Western countries, not to supply Western-style infantry fighting vehicles or tanks,” the official said.

According to RND, according to the deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU faction in the Bundestag, Johann Wadephula, such a position, which the federal government has not mentioned before, is either “blatant incompetence, coupled with sloppiness and ignorance”, or “a real scandal”.

The Greens also expressed their indignation at the words of Möller, in particular, the representative of the party, Sarah Nanni, stated that she was “surprised and annoyed” by the position of the German Ministry of Defense, which is controlled by Christina Lambrecht.

On May 23, the German tabloid Bild reported that the German government was blocking the delivery of Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Kyiv.

Before that, the Die Welt newspaper wrote that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba lost his temper during a conversation with the head of the German Defense Ministry on the topic of arms supplies to Kyiv.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnik said that the Ukrainian side has the impression that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz "does not want" to supply heavy weapons to Ukraine.
