• A northern company specializes in suspended camping products.

  • In addition to distributing products made in Asia, 2R Aventure is now developing its own “made in France” brand.

  • Its first product is a giant hammock made of parachute fabric.

The company that sends you flying.

No, it is not an airline, nor a parachute manufacturer.

Although the analogy can be (quickly) made between this last activity and the sector of 2R Aventure.

Based in Bondues, near Lille, this company is betting on making your daily life a suspended adventure.

Originally a distributor of outdoor equipment, 2R Aventure is slowly making the switch to made in France by launching its own products.

The first is none other than a giant hammock.

2R Aventure is a distributor of outdoor products whose activity is essentially based on two axes: sustainable mobility and camping.

And when she took over the reins of the company in 2015, Noémie Rogeau realized that, for this last activity, most of her references came from Asia.

“It's a shame because the Lille metropolis is still a historic cradle of textiles.

I wanted to see if it was not possible to do things locally,” she recalls.

Although the heyday of northern textiles has been over for decades, it nevertheless happens that this sector of activity is making a strong comeback, particularly in the branch of technical textiles.

"There is a whole ecosystem that I discovered and after many tests, we were able to release our first prototypes", explains Noémie Rogeau.

Their first idea came to fruition in the form of an inflatable tent that can be set up on the ground as well as in trees and even on water.

Everything was ready and the prototype finalized when the coronavirus epidemic arrived, preventing the industrialization process from coming to an end.

“We put this project on hold and the product is not marketed for the moment, but it will be,” promises the business manager.

It doesn't matter, one project chases another and a few days ago, a giant hammock was launched under the dedicated Cabaniste brand.

“It's a giant hammock made of parachute fabric.

It measures 1.80 m by 2 m and can easily support two adults and two children”, assures Noémie Rogeau, specifying that the creation had been tested in the park of the citadel of Lille.

This product is currently sold for just under 300 euros.

The inflatable tent was to be marketed at 2,000 euros.

“We cannot make ''made in France'' at the price of ''made in China'', production costs prevent us from doing so.

On the other hand, we offer local and sustainable products,” she acknowledges.

By durable, she means “repairable”.

It is in tune with the times.
