Three NATO countries sent ships for exercises in Helsinki

"Two ships of the US Navy, USS Gravely and USS Gunston Hall, and the French Navy ship Latouche-Tréville will visit Helsinki on May 27-30, 2022," the message says. 

Joint exercises will be held due to the fact that Finland and Sweden have expressed a desire to join NATO and have submitted relevant applications. 

The intention of Finland and Sweden to become members of the North Atlantic Alliance was previously reported.

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said that in the event of the expansion of NATO's military infrastructure in Finland and Sweden, Russia would be obliged to respond.
