- It has been full ever since we started, we have parents who are so happy that their young people have something meaningful to do, says Pernilla Carlsson unit manager at the social administration in Västervik municipality.

She continues:

- Everyone who is here has the same feeling of exclusion and then there will be community in it.

Which also gives increased self-esteem and strength.

Good support from the municipality

Several of the young people who come to the leisure center have had a hard time finding their place at the other leisure centers in the municipality, says Pernilla Carlsson.

-It's a really fun job.

We have had good opportunities to buy tools, such as tablets, computers, various games and table games.

We have received good support from our management, says the leisure leader Andreas Hansson who is one of three employees at the leisure center.

Hear Andreas tell more in the video above about what the challenge is in his role.

Great demand

Fritidsgården was started during the sports holiday this year and is currently open Wednesdays 17-20 and Saturdays 15-18.

Children aged 11 to 16 are welcome and you need to pre-register, as there is only room for eight young people at a time.

But the demand has been great and therefore there are plans to develop the business.

- We are already looking at how often we should have the leisure center open during the autumn.

It will in all probability be an extension, says Pernilla Carlsson.
