The prisoner who had escaped at the end of April, thanks to an exit permit to participate in a show at the Opéra de Lorraine, was arrested on Wednesday, the Nancy prosecutor's office said on Thursday.

Arrested Wednesday morning "at the home of his new companion in Longuyon", in Meurthe-et-Moselle, and imprisoned again, "he will be indicted soon for escape", said the public prosecutor of Nancy, François Pérain.

Nancy departmental security had been informed of his whereabouts by anonymous information, he said.

He “wanted to breathe”

Sentenced for theft and aggravated violence, the detainee, born in 1999, was to be released from Nancy-Maxéville prison in early September.

But, because he "wanted to breathe", he had left the Opera on April 29, after a participatory theatrical performance prepared for several months with other prisoners, residents of Nancy and musicians from the Opera Symphony Orchestra.

Twelve years later, the escapee on crutches was arrested
