Long travel times, changes and departures that do not suit normal working hours - it is not just the hospital in Fagersta that wants to see better commuting opportunities to the northern county.

- There are clear advantages to being able to travel by public transport - you can work on the train and there are environmental and economic aspects as well, says Henrik Rosander, HR manager at Systemair.

Today, the car is the fastest alternative to Skinnskatteberg, Rosander himself commutes from Västerås.

Taking the train instead would mean an extended travel time of about 40 minutes, from 50 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Previously, there were direct buses from Västerås to Skinnskatteberg, but in 2016 they were removed because there was no increase in the number of commuters during a four-year period.

From Örebrohållet, commuting opportunities to the municipality deteriorated during the pandemic - then a morning and afternoon departure was withdrawn and Tåg i Bergslagen has announced that they will not be reintroduced.
