Russia: We have information about 10 American projects in Ukraine to spread diseases

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russia had information about the implementation of 10 projects in Ukraine that included work with pathogens of particularly dangerous infections and economic impact.

Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation Protection, Chemicals and Biology Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, noted that the Pentagon had issued an order to work on mapping especially dangerous pathogens on the territory of Ukraine, with the mandatory transfer of samples of the strain to the United States.

The official said: “Pay attention to the memorandum prepared by the Office of the US Secretary of Defense on the UP-2 project to map particularly dangerous pathogens in Ukraine. The document notes that the main task of this project is to collect information on the molecular structure of pathogens circulating in Ukraine and transport samples of the strain ".

Kirillov also noted that a similar note was prepared as part of the UP-1 project, with the aim of studying rickettsia and other diseases spread by arthropods.

"The document indicated the need to transfer all groups of particularly dangerous pathogens to the central reference laboratory, which made it possible to facilitate the process of their regulated export to the United States," the official said.

According to him, a large-scale UP-4 project was implemented in Ukraine to study the possibility of the spread of especially dangerous infection through migratory birds.

"The documents received show that only for the period from November 2019 to January 2020, 991 biological samples were collected," Kirillov said.

He also noted that, in total, Russia had information about the implementation of ten such projects (including UP-3, UP-6, UP-8 and UP-10), which included work with pathogens of particularly dangerous and economically significant contagion - Crimean-Congo fever Leptospirosis, tick-borne encephalitis, African swine fever.

The Russian Defense Ministry also confirmed that the Ukrainian biological laboratories were linked to a Pentagon-run network for global control of the spread of infectious diseases.

He explained that the network is managed by the Walter Reed Institute for Army Research in Maryland.

Noting that the network was formed by the Pentagon since 1997. Kirillov added that it includes laboratories for the land and naval forces, in addition to military bases scattered in different regions of the world.
