Visiting Bangladesh, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi launched, on Wednesday May 25, an appeal for sustainable and predictable aid for Rohingya refugees and their host communities.
According to the organization's official statement, "some 28,000 Rohingya refugees have been relocated to Bhasan Char by the Government of Bangladesh, and the High Commissioner has found that essential humanitarian services there have been strengthened. He called for continued strong government leadership on the island, as well as improved education services, skills development and livelihood initiatives.”
