China News Service, May 27 (Reuters) - The Iraqi parliament approved a law on Tuesday that would make normalizing relations with Israel a crime.

Iraq has never recognized Israel since its founding, and the new law goes one step further by criminalizing any attempt to normalize relations with Israel.

Iraq says the bill aims to uphold the Iraqi people's consistent stand in support of Palestine and its people.

Before 2020, only two Arab countries, Egypt and Jordan, have established diplomatic relations with Israel.

Since 2020, under the coordination of the United States, four Arab countries, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco, have successively announced the normalization of relations with Israel.
