The Qatar-based television channel Al Jaazera reports that it has formed a group of lawyers and experts who are now preparing to hand over the case to prosecutors at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

It was on May 11 that journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was shot to death in her work at the West Bank.

She was wearing a helmet and a press vest when she reported on a raid carried out by Israeli soldiers on the occupied West Bank.

After investigating the case, Palestinian authorities this week concluded that Israeli forces deliberately shot dead Abu Akleh.

The reconstruction that Nyhetsbyrån AP has done also points to this.

There is also information from witnesses and other reporters who were at the scene to support it.

Al Jazeera also claims that it was an Israeli soldier who shot her dead on purpose, but the Israeli military has denied the allegations.

"Must have consequences"

The incident has not yet been investigated by any independent party, but now Al Jaazera is planning to take the matter to the ICC.

"Targeting journalists in conflict areas anywhere in the world is unacceptable and must have serious consequences for those who try to hide their crimes and insults by killing or maiming journalists," Tayeb Ali, one of the lawyers in the case, told Al Jaazera. .
