Turkey announces military operations in northern Syria

Turkey announced necessary military operations for national security at a Security Council meeting on Thursday, ahead of a possible military attack in northern Syria.

The Security Council stressed that the ongoing military operations on Turkey's southern border are not an attack on the territorial integrity of its neighbors, but are necessary to maintain national security.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a possible attack in northern Syria last Monday, where Turkey already controls some areas.

That was the main item of the Security Council meeting today, Thursday.
