Several new night train routes are underway and some have already been started up.
For example, SJ has established a line from Stockholm to Hamburg and the French government is planning several new routes.
- For our new direct line SJ EuroNight between Stockholm and Hamburg starting 1 September, the interest is also very great.
We have already received many bookings despite the fact that we just had a ticket release and barely marketed it, says Pernilla Hultsten.
In France, until May 16, there was a ban on eating and drinking on trains, something that has now been lifted.
- I think the train holiday will continue now after the pandemic with new lines and that the restrictions are lifted, says energy and climate adviser Kristina Engdahl.
Municipal train counseling
In Helsingborg, the municipality has a special train counseling service for private individuals, associations and companies traveling to Europe.
The service almost had time to start and the pressure in the office was high, but then came the pandemic and killed the train on holiday.
But now another return is predicted before the pandemic.
"Jungle of Websites"
The most difficult thing about planning your train holiday is, according to Kristina Engdahl, that there is a lot of information on the internet and that it can be difficult to navigate and compare different trips and prices.
- It can be a bit tricky, it's almost like a jungle and that's where we can help.
But you have to make the booking yourself, says Kristina Engdahl.
