Six individuals aged 20 to 40 appeared Monday before the criminal court of Meaux (Seine-et-Marne).

These members of the Traveler community were accused of having taken part in a brawl on April 9, 2022 at the Coulommiers Cheese and Wine Fair (Seine-et-Marne).

All were given sentences ranging from ten months suspended prison sentence to one year in prison with an electronic bracelet, reports

They will also have to compensate the civil parties for amounts between 1,200 and 8,000 euros.

They are also forbidden to go to Coulommiers for three years.

About fifty individuals had participated in this fight, against a background of alcohol.

It all started with a remark to a participant before the violence spread.

Seventeen people were injured.

Among the victims are eight policemen, a man suffering from a broken jaw, another having had his skull sunk in and a woman having suffered a concussion.
