China News Service, May 26. The Statistics and Census Bureau of the Macao SAR Government announced on the 26th that Macao held a total of 97 MICE events in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 29 year-on-year, and the number of participants/visitors increased by 19.7% to 165,000 trips.

  Statistics from the Statistics and Census Service show that there were 76 meetings in Macau in the first quarter, an increase of 15 year-on-year, but the number of participants decreased by 6.3% to 6,157.

The average session duration decreased by 0.1 days to 0.9 days, and the total usable area slightly decreased by 0.5% to 32,000 square meters.

The number of exhibitions increased by 7 year-on-year to 14, all of which were organized by non-governmental organizations. The number of visitors increased by 19.8% to 158,000.

The average exhibition period shortened by 0.3 days to 2.6 days year-on-year, and the total usable area increased by 1.5 times to 33,000 square meters.

In addition, there were a total of 1,540 participants in the 7 incentive activities in the season, the average duration of the activities was 1.2 days, and the total used area was 8,048 square meters.

  The revenue of exhibition organizers increased by 64.1% year-on-year to 10.19 million yuan (MOP, the same below), of which 86.5% came from booth rental, and government/organization funding accounted for 13.0%; expenditure also increased by 84.6% to 8.8 million yuan for exhibition Field production and layout and publicity and public relations accounted for 34.1% and 32.9% respectively.

Revenue, after deducting expenses and government/agency funding, recorded a surplus of $70,000.

  In the first quarter, exhibition exhibitors increased by 64.8% year-on-year to 692, of which 96.1% were local; professional visitors increased by 63.2% to 9,153, of which 97.5% were local.

According to the data of 368 interviewed exhibitors, 94.1% of the income came from the sales of goods, while the expenses were mainly booth rental (72.1%) and booth construction and arrangement (16.5%).

  In terms of evaluation, the proportion of exhibitors surveyed in the first quarter who expressed satisfaction with the convenient transportation (83.4%) and supporting facilities (79.6%) of the exhibition venue increased by 6.5 percentage points and 0.8 percentage points respectively quarter-on-quarter. Satisfaction dropped 2.9 percentage points to 68.8%.
