Europe 1 Studio SEASON 2021 - 202207:00 a.m., May 26, 2022

Gaston d'Orléans, younger brother of Louis XIII, refuses to spend his life in the king's shadow: he dreams of taking his place at the head of the kingdom.

In this new episode of the Europe 1 Studio podcast "At the heart of History", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach continues the story rich in twists and turns of the political battle between Gaston d'Orléans and Louis XIII for the crown of France.

During the Day of the Dupes in November 1630, Louis XIII chose to keep his minister Richelieu with him rather than his mother Marie de Médicis.

A decision which revives the conflict between his younger brother Gaston and him, less than a year after their reconciliation.

Gaston then multiplies the acts of revolt against his older brother: he becomes leader of the opposition to Richelieu, announces his intention to marry the sister of the Duke of Lorraine without the king's authorization... In this new episode of the Europe 1 podcast Studio "At the heart of history", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach recounts the continuation of the conspiracies mounted by Gaston against his brother.
