A decision which revives the conflict between his younger brother Gaston and him, less than a year after their reconciliation.

Gaston then multiplies the acts of revolt against his older brother: he becomes leader of the opposition to Richelieu, announces his intention to marry the sister of the Duke of Lorraine without the king's authorization...
