An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 shook southern Peru on Thursday, announced the American Institute of Geophysics (USGS).
The tremor was recorded around noon, with an epicenter near the town of Azangaro, near Lake Titicaca, and at a depth of around 200 kilometers, the institute said.

On November 28, 2021, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake had already affected the north of the country.
It is shaken by multiple earthquakes every year because it is located on the "Pacific Ring of Fire", an area of strong telluric activity.
