"Sharjah Consultant" calls for intensifying control over fugitive workers, street vendors and massage centers

The Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah held its sixteenth session yesterday, headed by the Chairman of the Council, Ali Mehd Al-Suwaidi, to discuss its recommendations regarding the policy of the Sharjah Police General Command and the report received from the committee preparing the draft recommendations of the Council.

The fifteen recommendations of the Council, which were reviewed by the decision of the committee to prepare the draft recommendations, Muhammad Ali Al-Naqbi, included: Developing smart systems in police patrol vehicles to locate and contact locations in emergency cases when receiving communications, which contributes to achieving high rates of response time.

The recommendations emphasized the importance of working with the competent authorities to intensify awareness and control campaigns on fugitive workers, beggars, street vendors and massage centers that publish indecent advertisements and take deterrent penalties to maintain the security and safety of society.

The recommendations submitted by the members of the Council suggested to study the development of local ambulances in the Emirate in accordance with the best international practices through the employment of field expertise and modern technology.

The recommendations also included expediting the construction of the rehabilitation center building for the treatment of drug addicts because of its critical importance in supporting national efforts and integrated treatment and rehabilitation programmes.

The recommendations, based on what was presented in the previous session, dealt with coordination with the Roads and Transport Authority to study providing the emirate's roads with smart panels to provide instant traffic information on the status of the road network, such as congestion or accident sites.

The advisory council called for the development of a guide for the activity of the Transportation and Delivery Orders Department in order to organize it and launch joint campaigns to educate delivery bike drivers about the dangers of speeding and wrong behaviors in driving.

The recommendations called for considering amending the regulations for organizing leave (for first-degree patient escorts outside the country) that are binding on the facilities on the treatment trip by returning to the workplace every four months to resume that leave, and replacing that procedure with remote means of communication.

Through the draft recommendations, the members demanded the continuation of completing the network of cameras in all cities and regions, which amounted to 40%, and working to activate the operating rooms in all regions;

To play protective roles.

The recommendations also included: working to secure vital sites in the cities and regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, and partnering with the Sharjah Expo Center to organize an annual exhibition and conference in which it sheds light on the best practices followed in the policing field and modern global trends to serve the upgrading of societies and maintaining their security.

At the conclusion of the discussions, the members approved their recommendations regarding discussing the policy of the Sharjah Police General Command.

While the Secretary-General of the Council, Ahmed Saeed Al-Jarwan, announced that the next session will be held on Thursday, the ninth of June, in which a parliamentary question submitted by member Suhail Al Kaabi will be submitted to the Sharjah Municipality regarding the construction of a building for the Sharjah Context Institute.
