The giant balsam, which came to Sweden from Asia through people who wanted to plant it in their gardens, is on the EU's list of invasive species.

This means that all countries have an obligation to fight it.

Letter to landowners

The County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland has found around 1,500 places on private land where the giant balsam grows, and therefore a letter has now been sent out to the landowners with a request that they must fight the plant.

- The giant balsam is a great threat to biodiversity, says Klara Jansson.
