The company had seized the administrative court to obtain compensation for the damage it considered to have suffered as a result of its irregular eviction from the public service delegation contract for the maritime service of Corsica for the period 2014-2023.

After the publication of a call for competition in 2012, the Community of Corsica had retained, by a deliberation of September 6, 2013, the offer presented by a group composed of the former National Society Corsica Mediterranean (SNCM) and the National Navigation Company (CMN), rejecting the candidacy of Corsica Ferries.

By a judgment of February 23, 2017, the administrative court of Bastia had subsequently condemned the Community of Corsica for irregular competition to pay Corsica Ferries 369,500 euros for the period 2014-2023.

The shipping company had appealed against this decision, claiming more than 47 million euros in compensation for the damage suffered.

The Community of Corsica was also definitively ordered in September 2021 by the Council of State to pay 86.3 million euros to Corsica Ferries in compensation for damage caused by "illegal subsidization" of its competitor, the former SNCM, for maritime services to Corsica for the period 2007-2013.
