After the meeting, he also issued a government statement condemning the North Korean provocation.

President Yoon Seok-yeol presided over the National Security Council, the NSC, from 7:35 am to 1 hour and 3 minutes.



President Yoon, who was informed of the details of North Korea's missile launches and our readiness posture, said, "We will maintain our readiness posture at all times to ensure that there is no gap in the security of the Republic of Korea, and thoroughly enforce international sanctions against North Korea, including UN Security Council resolutions, based on the ROK-U.S. cooperation. instructed to "implement".



We urged ministries and ministries to check the relevant situation and make efforts to ensure that there is no negative impact on the daily life and economy of the people.



This is the first time that President Yoon has presided over a National Security Council meeting. The meeting was attended by National Security Office Director Kim Seong-han, Foreign Ministry Park Jin, Unification Ministry Kwon Young-se, and Defense Minister Lee Jong-seop.



Attendees noted that North Korea's missile launch took place after the US-ROK summit and before US President Biden's arrival.



North Korea's missile launch is a violation of UN Security Council resolutions and a serious provocation that heightens tensions on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia.



A separate government statement condemning North Korea's provocations was also released.



In a statement, the government said, "North Korea's continued provocations will inevitably result in a strong and swift ROK-U.S. combined deterrence force, and will only lead to North Korea's international isolation.
