What is the recoil distance for a mini video projector?
The question of the placement of a video projector is always problematic, and it is even more crucial on a mini video projector which is often more constrained in terms of options and image adjustments.
Generally speaking, a mini projector should not be placed too far from the screen.
As it is extremely mobile, it is fortunately possible to do tests quite easily.
So it may be useful to start by placing it at a distance of about 2m, making sure that the projector is placed in the center of the screen in order to avoid image distortion.
3 criteria to consider when buying a mini video projector
Like any device, a video projector meets very specific criteria and this is even more true for a mini video projector.
The first is of course the quality of the image.
On this point, it is important not to have excessive expectations: a pico projector remains a mobile device that will never offer the same benefits as a conventional video projector.
On the other hand, even in this segment, you can find everything from 480p resolution to Full HD and sometimes even 4K.
We can assume that 720p is a good average.
It is also important to take a look at the brightness.
In most cases, it must again be admitted that on a pico projector, you will mainly find models designed only for the dark with a brightness between 500 and 800 Lumens.
Depending on the devices you want to connect, it is interesting to dwell on the connectors: USB-A for external hard drives, HDMI for a Blu-ray player or a TV key or even USB-C to connect a smartphone.
On the wireless side, Bluetooth can be interesting for music, but it is especially important to check if the projector is compatible with Chromecast for Android or AirPlay 2 for iPhone and iPad.
