Twitter held an annual general meeting with shareholders on Wednesday.

CEO Parag Agrawal announced that the managers will not answer any questions at all about Elon Musk's possible purchase.

After an hour, the digital meeting ended - without any vote on the deal.

Twitter has not yet announced when the vote will take place.

Musk did not attend the meeting, even though he had the opportunity to do so, reports AP.

- I think both parties are waiting for each other, it seems that Musk is trying to negotiate the price, says SVT's tech correspondent Alexander Norén.

Twitter's board agreed in April to let Musk buy the company for $ 44 billion, and a unanimous board has urged shareholders to say yes to the deal.

But since Musk's bid, several questions have arisen about whether the purchase of the company will be off or not.

On May 13, Musk announced on Twitter that the acquisition was "temporarily postponed" because he was trying to find out more about the proportion of fake accounts on Twitter.

The stock is now lower than before Musk's bid.

Twitter stated last week that the company is still set on completing the deal at the agreed price.

May prefer penalty over overprice

According to Alexander Norén, there are many indications that Elon Musk may have had cold feet and is not happy with the price tag for which he wanted to buy Twitter as recently as April.

This is partly because tech shares have plummeted recently and the Twitter share is now far lower than Musk's bid.

- What Musk loses by walking away from the deal is the penalty of one billion dollars.

Considering that the share is now so much cheaper on the stock exchange than he promised to buy it for, it is perhaps a less sour apple compared to if he would feel that he is buying Twitter at a large premium, says Alexander Norén.
