The accused men are two brothers in their 40s.

They were arrested in February at Landvetter Airport.

The security police had been keeping an eye on the men for some time.

However, they have not been judged to be part of any fixed grouping with a terrorist connection.

Extensive material from chat conversations is an important part of the evidence against the brothers.

- It clearly shows, according to my way of looking at it, that these men not only wanted to join IS, but also wanted to play an active role and wanted to fight for IS, said chamber prosecutor Henrik Olin when the indictment was brought in early May.

Both brothers deny any wrongdoing.

Claimed a prison sentence

The current law deals with penalties for public incitement, recruitment and training regarding terrorist crimes and other particularly serious crimes.

So far, no one has been convicted of travel crimes under this law.

However, the law's writing was sharpened two years ago.

The prosecutor has demanded that each of the men be sentenced to ten months in prison, writes Dagens Nyheter.
