The now convicted man, who is in his 60s and a resident of Tranås, was heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal accident.

He had an alcohol concentration in his blood of 1.42 per mille and he was also under the influence of drugs.

He drove the car at high speed and on several occasions he made overtaking at obscured visibility and he also crossed a solid line.

Convicted of all charges

The collision occurred on the evening of March 18 on highway 32 between Sunhultsbrunn and Tranås, at the height of Färestorp.

The man is now convicted in Eksjö District Court for aggravated causing another's death, three cases of aggravated causing bodily injury, gross negligence in traffic, aggravated drunk driving and minor drug offenses.

The man is convicted on all charges and in addition to the prison sentence, he must pay damages to the other victims in the accident and relatives of the man who died.
