“In the current situation, the international community should promote an early ceasefire, help create a “green channel” for grain exports from Russia and Ukraine,” Wang Yi said, quoted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

He noted Beijing's readiness to hold consultations on this issue with all interested parties.

“China cannot stand aside when solving important problems that cause increased attention from the world community,” Wang Yi concluded.

EU diplomat Josep Borrell said earlier that the European Union would help Ukraine empty its grain storage facilities to, he said, make room for a new crop.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said on the Russia 24 channel that the European Union is doing everything to take last year's grain stocks out of Ukraine.
