WHO = World Health Organization has decided to re-election Tedros Secretary-General at the annual meeting, and will enter the second term from August.

Last year, before the expiration of the term of Secretary-General Tedros from Ethiopia, WHO solicited candidates for the next Secretary-General from member countries, and 28 countries such as Europe, Africa and Asia proposed reappointment, and other candidates. There was no suggestion from anyone.

In response, the WHO Annual Meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, adopted a resolution on the 24th to elect Secretary-General Tedros as the next Secretary-General, and re-election was decided.

The second term will be five years from August, including response to infectious diseases such as the new corona, medical support for Ukraine under the military invasion of Russia, and health in developing countries. You will be working on issues.

"Thank you for your trust, the new Corona pandemic is unprecedented and there are many lessons to be learned," said Tedros, demonstrating his willingness to continue to lead WHO.

On the other hand, Taiwan, which is not a member of WHO, aimed to participate as an observer at the WHO annual meeting, but China and others opposed it, and it was not accepted for the sixth consecutive year.
