According to RIA Novosti, citing WHO data as of May 23, 17 non-endemic countries reported 131 cases of monkeypox, Sudan and Argentina are investigating alleged infections.

The largest increase in infections was recorded in Spain (40 cases), Portugal (37 cases) and the UK (20 patients).

Earlier, State Duma deputy Ivan Sukharev suggested considering the advisability of resuming vaccination against smallpox in Russia.

In the appeal, the legislator noted that this spring there was an outbreak of monkeypox.
