On May 23, at the press conference of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council, Lei Zhenglong, deputy director of the National Health Commission's Bureau of Disease Control and First-level Inspector, introduced that the overall epidemic situation across the country has shown a steady decline recently. The number of new local infections every day has dropped to less than 1,200, and the scope of infection has further narrowed.

Lei Zhenglong pointed out that at present, the epidemic situation in Shanghai continues to improve as a whole, and the number of newly reported infections has continued to decline, with less than 1,000 new cases per day for 8 consecutive days. The results of epidemic prevention and control still need to be further consolidated.

The clustered epidemic in Beijing and sporadic cases are intertwined, and there are still risks of infection transmission in local areas and key groups.

The Linshui epidemic in Guang'an, Sichuan is in a period of fluctuation and decline, and the risk of epidemic transmission is lower than that in the previous period.

There have been clusters of epidemics in Tianjin and Jilin recently, and it is necessary to speed up the detection and investigation of risk points.

The epidemic situation in Henan, Anhui, Jiangxi, Liaoning and other places has been effectively contained, and the epidemic situation has stabilized.
