Rep. Kim Jin-pyo (Suwon-mu, Gyeonggi), a fifth-term member of the Democratic Party of Korea, was elected as a candidate for the second half of the 21st National Assembly.

The Democratic Party held a general assembly meeting today (24th) and elected Rep. Kim as a candidate for the Speaker of the National Assembly.

As the Democratic Party's share of the vice-chairman, 4th term lawmaker Kim Young-joo was elected.

It is customary for the Speaker of the National Assembly to be paid by one party in the House of Representatives.

The Democratic Party is in the position that the current chairman Park Byung-seok's term of office should end on the 29th before the National Assembly plenary session and the election of the chairman should be completed.

However, the People's Power is of the position that the issue of the composition of the second half of the year, including the chairperson of the Legislative and Judiciary Committee, should be discussed together.
