China News Service, Beijing, May 23 (Xie Yanbing and Xing Chong) Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin hosted a regular press conference on the 23rd.

A reporter asked: We just learned that the 75th World Health Assembly explicitly refused to include the so-called "invitation of Taiwan to participate in the WHA as an observer" on the agenda of the Assembly.

What is the comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this?

Wang Wenbin: The General Committee and the Plenary Session of the 75th World Health Assembly have made decisions respectively, expressly refusing to include the so-called "invitation of Taiwan to participate in the World Health Assembly as an observer" proposed by some countries on the agenda of the Assembly.

This fully shows that the one-China principle is the popular aspiration of the international community and the general trend, and no challenge can be tolerated.

The DPP authorities, in disregard of the wishes of all parties and the well-being of the people in Taiwan, insisted on instigating their so-called "diplomatic countries" to engage in Taiwan-related proposals, and some countries support, instigation, and fueling the flames.

These vicious acts against the trend of history have been unanimously opposed by countries in the world that uphold justice.

Before the opening of the conference, nearly 90 countries expressed their adherence to the one-China principle and their opposition to Taiwan's participation in the WHA in special letters to the WHO.

The Chinese central government attaches great importance to the health and well-being of Taiwan compatriots.

Under the premise of the one-China principle, proper arrangements have been made for Taiwan's participation in global health affairs.

After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, the Chinese central government has notified Taiwan about 400 times of the epidemic. In the past year, Taiwan health experts have been approved to participate in 44 batches of 47 WHO technical activities.

Taiwan has set up a contact point for the International Health Regulations, which can obtain and report information on health emergencies in a timely manner.

The so-called "gap in the international epidemic prevention system" is simply nonsense.

We once again advise the DPP authorities that there is no way out for "seeking independence through the epidemic".

China also urges certain countries to stop politicizing health issues and interfering in China's internal affairs under the pretext of the Taiwan issue. Otherwise, they will only shoot themselves in the foot and doomed to fail.
