“A feature of this stage is the verification of weapons, military and special equipment contained in long-term storage in military units of combat, logistics and technical support,” the defense department said in a statement.
The check includes the removal of samples of weapons, military and special equipment from storage and the implementation of a control run by them "in the course of marches of various lengths."
The conscription of persons liable for military service is not envisaged, the ministry stressed.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced the formation of territorial troops of the Kobrin and Lida regions of the republic as part of an audit of the territorial defense authorities.
