THE ESSENTIAL
The brand new government of Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne has an appointment a little before 10 a.m. at the Elysee Palace for the first Council of Ministers of Emmanuel Macron's second five-year term.
This first could be overshadowed by the reactions to the rape accusations against Damien Abad, ex-president of the LR group in the National Assembly and new Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and People with Disabilities.
In addition, the legislative campaign continues while the Elysée has confirmed that the candidate ministers who will be beaten will have to leave the government.

Among the new faces of the Borne government, that of Damien Abad will be particularly scrutinized.
The Minister of Solidarity is accused of rape by two women.
These accusations were contested "with the greatest force" by Damien Abad, former president of the LR deputies: "I deny having exercised any form of coercion whatsoever on any woman", he wrote in a press release to the AFP.
Welcome to this live dedicated to the June 2022 legislative elections and the political news of the day
Today we will follow the first unsteady steps (we don't expect a fall because we don't have bad spirits) of the members of the brand new Borne government on the tricky gravel of the Elysée courtyard.
It is indeed today that the first Council of Ministers takes place which launches, in a way, the new five-year term of Emmanuel Macron.
But the campaign is also in full swing and the opposition should also speak out a lot, in particular to comment on the rape accusations against Damien Abad, new Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and People with Disabilities.
