US President Joe Biden said it was "important" to make Putin pay for the atrocities he committed in Ukraine.

President Biden said at a joint press conference after the US-Japan summit in Tokyo today (23rd) that "the United States and its allies are imposing sanctions" and "Russia will have to pay a long-term price."

President Biden has made it clear that he will not ease sanctions on Russia, asking "what will China signal about the cost of taking Taiwan by force if sanctions are not maintained in some way?"

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also mentioned the Ukraine crisis and the East China Sea and South China Sea, where China is strengthening its maritime presence, saying, "We will not tolerate shaking the international order by force anywhere."
