A 43-year-old man died after an altercation with a motorist in Lamentin (Martinique), on the night of Friday to Saturday.

Around 3 a.m., he was driving his car and returning from a party, reports Martinique La 1re.

An accident with another motorist then took place and the situation degenerated.

The second driver pulled out a gun and fired at the 40-year-old.

Taken to the emergency room of the Fort-de-France hospital, the victim died of his injuries shortly afterwards.

Several bullet casings were found at the scene.

The investigation, entrusted to the Territorial Directorate of the National Police, will have to determine the circumstances of the accident.

According to France-Antilles, the author of the shots had not been arrested on Saturday noon.

This is the 9th homicide since the beginning of the year in Martinique.
