The envelope is gigantic.

Joe Biden has signed legislation passed by Congress on Thursday providing $40 billion for Ukraine's war effort against Russia, the White House announced on Saturday.

The American president ratified this text during his official trip to South Korea.

The law includes six billion dollars to allow Ukraine to equip itself with armored vehicles and strengthen its anti-aircraft defense, according to the same source.

On Twitter, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked his American counterpart, saying he was "grateful".

Grateful to @POTUS for signing the law on additional support for 🇺🇦.

The leadership of 🇺🇸, President Biden & the American people in supporting 🇺🇦's fight against the Russian aggressor is crucial.

Look forward to new, powerful defense assistance.

Today it is needed more than ever.

8:23 am: “The situation in the Donbass is extremely difficult”

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the current phase of the war, where the Russians are concentrating their efforts in the East, “will be bloody” but in the end it will have to be resolved “through diplomacy”.

“Discussions between Ukraine and Russia will definitely take place,” he told Ukrainian television ICTV.

He said he was once again ready if necessary for a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who has so far never followed up.

Volodymyr Zelensky, in his usual video message posted on Saturday evening, noted that the military situation had "not changed significantly" during the day "but it was very difficult".

“The situation in Donbass is extremely difficult,” he insisted.

8:15 a.m .: The Russian army shells the Donbass

The Donbass is still under intense fire.

Russia indeed continued to pound eastern Ukraine on Saturday.

In this strategy, Moscow further claimed to have struck a large stockpile of weapons supplied by Westerners.

"Long-range, high-precision Kalibr missiles, launched from the sea, destroyed a large consignment of weapons and military equipment supplied by the United States and European countries, near Malin railway station, in the Zhytomyr region," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

However, it was not possible to verify this information from an independent source.
