Retired German General Wad spoke out against the supply of heavy weapons to Ukraine

He explained that many years of training are needed to operate a Leopard tank or a Marder infantry fighting vehicle.

Vad believes that such weapons will not be useful to the Ukrainian military either now or in the foreseeable future.

He also stressed that further arms supplies to Ukraine could lead to irreparable consequences.

The retired general added that Germany needed to focus on peace talks, not military rhetoric.

In his opinion, if Western countries do not want a third world war, then sooner or later they will have to "give up thinking in the direction of military escalation and start negotiations," RIA Novosti reports.

Before that, the Die Welt newspaper wrote that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba lost his temper during a conversation with German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht on the topic of arms supplies to Kyiv.
