A swarm catcher is not a mysterious machine but a person who helps to catch bee swarms.

Lars-Göran Arvidsson, who lives outside Norrköping, is one of them.

- For beekeepers, it is important that the bee swarm does not settle anywhere and suffer from diseases that are spread further to our communities, he says.

When bees reproduce, there can be so many bees that the hive is not enough.

Then it may happen that half the inhabitants of the hive are looking for new hunting grounds with a new queen.

However, they stick together and can, for example, sit in a tree only to soon move again.

Can be captured and placed in a new cup

For those who work as swarm catchers, it is important to capture the bee heat before it finds a permanent place to live.

When the bees swarm, they are in themselves very peaceful, but they can cause problems if they choose to settle in, for example, a house wall or a chimney.

If the swarm catcher does not have time to catch the swarm in time, all that remains is to hire a company that deals with pest control.

If a swarm is captured, it can be placed in a new hive and form a new bee community.
