A video clip showed Al-Jazeera reporter Sherine Abu Aqila trying to hide from the bullets of the Israeli occupation at the moment of the injury of colleague Ali Al-Samoudi prior to her assassination.

The clip - which was documented by Al-Jazeera photographer Magdy Bannoura - revealed that colleague Sherine took shelter in the wall and the tree in her location.

She also turned to her colleague Ali after he was hit, and her last words were "hurt me" and she repeated them twice, before she was directly targeted by an Israeli bullet.

comprehensive investigation

On the other hand, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stressed - in a press interview with "vice news" - the need for a comprehensive and credible investigation into the assassination of colleague Shireen Abu Akleh.

In response to a question about the possible consequences if the IDF's responsibility for Shirin's killing were revealed, Blinken said he would not go into assumptions.

He stressed that those responsible for what happened to colleague Sherine Abu Aqleh should be held accountable.

And 56 members of the US Congress signed a letter calling on the US authorities to conduct an investigation into the murder of the late colleague.

In their letter, members of Congress expressed their deep concern over the killing of the Al Jazeera reporter, and called for the protection of journalists around the world at all costs.

insult to the press

The members said - in the letter - that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the killing of Sherine Abu Aqleh as an insult to the press, and they welcomed the ministry's statements and the measures it has taken so far in support of a thorough investigation.

They also called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation "FBI" (FBI) to conduct this investigation, given what they described as the fragility of the situation in the region and the conflicting news about the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh.

Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh was shot dead by Israeli forces, and that this could not be allowed to happen using US resources and taxpayer money.

The Democratic representative emphasized that the demand for human rights for the Palestinians is not anti-Semitic.

In turn, Salma Zahid - a member of the Canadian House of Commons from the ruling liberal party - called on the Canadian government to take a strong position calling for a fair and internationally supervised investigation into the killing of Al-Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh.

During an intervention in a previous publication, the Canadian member of the House of Commons said that the investigation into the killing of Shireen should not be left to the Israeli army.

She said, "I am very sad for the killing of the Al-Jazeera correspondent during an Israeli army raid in Jenin. Journalists are important and their role is vital to any democracy, because they risk their lives to reveal what is happening in the world. Therefore, the killing of Shireen Abu Aqleh affected me greatly."

Palestinian welcome

In turn, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh, welcomed the US State Department's call for an investigation into the assassination of Shireen Abu Aqleh, after Israel's decision to close the criminal investigation file.

The Sheikh said - in a tweet - that the US State Department's call for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the assassination of Abu Aqila is welcome.

And the Palestinian Foreign Ministry renewed - yesterday, Friday - its accusation that Israel was trying to evade responsibility for the murder of colleague Shireen Abu Akleh.

Ahmed Al-Deek, political advisor to the Palestinian Foreign Minister, said that Israel is trying to evade responsibility for the execution of the martyr Shireen Abu Aqleh.

However, the Israeli army spokesman, Avichai Adraee, said that there is no way at the present time to open an investigation into the circumstances of the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh.

Amnesty International described Israel's decision not to investigate the assassination of our colleague Shireen Abu Aqleh as a violation of international law.

The organization indicated that the occupation's failure to investigate is an additional violation of Shirin Abu Aqleh's right to life, and described the Israeli decision as a clear violation of Israel's obligations under international law.

Shirin Well

On the other hand, the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation opened a well in Chad bearing the name of our colleague Shireen Abu Aqleh, who was assassinated by the Israeli occupation bullets on May 11.

The authority said that it had opened the Abu Aqleh well in the village of Atafil (which belongs to the Chadian capital, N'Djamena), which is inhabited by about 1,200 people.
