• In Rennes, the Keolis unions have been calling for a public transport police for years on the Star network.

  • The national police would have made the request to the State, according to several unions.

  • Recently, several agents of the Star have been victims of attacks, increasing the feeling of insecurity.

“The basket is full of promises, to be implemented very quickly, for the safety of employees who are too often attacked.

It is with these few words that the UNSA union (CFDT) described the meeting with the management of Keolis Rennes.

Summoned to react after the multiplication of attacks suffered by several agents in recent weeks in Rennes, the public transport company called the national police for help.

The biggest breakthrough?

The potential creation of a transport police.

This unit of the national police would be entirely dedicated to maintaining order in buses, the metro and stations.

According to the UNSA, which had recently filed a social alarm with the CGT, the director of public security "plans to create a brigade specializing in public transport".

In Rennes there is a security guard in each bus I think it's really good 😜

The Keolis unions point out that this request has been made by their services for several years.

The inter-union has also welcomed “the awareness”.

But it is not certain that Rennes Métropole is very keen on this transport brigade, arguing that the recruitment of 40 municipal police officers was still in progress.

In the meantime, the local management of the national police will maintain the patrols will be maintained "in a sustainable way", in public transport.

Several attacks in recent weeks

Other measures have also been taken.

The anti-attack windows will be maintained "for the time necessary" and a second rapid intervention vehicle will be made available to the agents.

The management of Keolis and the police also recalled the need to systematically file a complaint in the event of an attack, promising "a privileged welcome" for the agents.

Recently, several of them have been assaulted.

One was held up with a gun (which turned out to be fake), another was punched in the face.

A bus was also targeted by gunfire.

"It's not stopping right now.

If we pass a minute early, we are insulted, threatened, ”explained a driver of the Star recently.
