China News Agency, Beijing, May 21. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin answered a reporter's question on the 21st on the international community's extensive support for China's position on the Taiwan-related issue of the World Health Assembly.

He pointed out that this once again proves that the one-China principle is the common aspiration of the international community and the general trend.

A reporter asked that the 75th World Health Assembly will be held from May 22 to May 28.

The foreign affairs department of the Taiwan authorities expressed "regret and dissatisfaction" for Taiwan's failure to be invited to participate in the conference.

Recently, many countries have sent letters to the WHO, supporting the Chinese government's decision not to agree with Taiwan's participation in this year's WHA, and do not want any discussion on Taiwan-related issues at this year's conference.

What is China's comment?

Wang Wenbin said that there is only one China in the world, the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.

China's Taiwan region's participation in the activities of international organizations, including the World Health Organization, must be handled in accordance with the one-China principle. The UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and the World Health Assembly Resolution 25.1 confirmed this fundamental principle.

Wang Wenbin said that from 2009 to 2016, on the basis that both sides of the Taiwan Strait adhered to the one-China principle, China made special arrangements for Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly for eight consecutive years.

However, since the DPP came to power, it has placed political plots above the well-being of the people in the Taiwan region, stubbornly adhered to the "Taiwan independence" separatist stance, and refused to recognize the "1992 Consensus" that embodies the one-China principle. The foundation no longer exists.

Wang Wenbin pointed out that the Chinese central government attaches great importance to the health and well-being of Taiwan compatriots, and has made proper arrangements for Taiwan's participation in global health affairs under the premise of the one-China principle.

Since the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, the Chinese central government has notified Taiwan about the epidemic situation about 400 times. In the past year, Taiwan health experts have been approved to participate in 44 batches of 47 WHO technical activities. Taiwan has repeatedly received information on the epidemic situation from the WHO Secretariat. According to the report, the so-called "gap in the international epidemic prevention system" is simply nonsense.

The DPP authorities ignore the general desire of the international community to focus on anti-epidemic cooperation, ignore the safety of people in Taiwan, and use the epidemic to engage in political manipulation, in violation of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and WHO Resolution 25.1, and will not hesitate to interfere with them. At the expense of the progress of the conference and undermining international anti-epidemic cooperation, they insisted on making Taiwan-related proposals.

Its real purpose is to create "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan" internationally.

Wang Wenbin emphasized that in order to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and safeguard the seriousness and authority of the relevant resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and the World Health Assembly, China does not agree to Taiwan's participation in this year's World Health Assembly.

China's decision has been widely supported and understood by the international community.

So far, nearly 90 countries have expressed their adherence to the one-China principle and their opposition to Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly through special letters to the WHO.

This once again proves that the one-China principle is the popular aspiration of the international community and the general trend.

The eyes of the people of the world are sharp. Any attempt to play the "Taiwan card" or "use Taiwan to control China" will definitely be firmly opposed by the vast majority of members of the international community, and it is doomed to fail.
