Business officials in Southern Odesa "Export volume is about one tenth"

There is growing concern about global food shortages due to the stagnation of exports of wheat and other products due to the obstruction of sea shipping by the Russian army.

Alexandre Polyschenko, president of a company that exports wheat and other grains in southern Odesa, which has the largest port in Ukraine, told NHK that exports have dropped to about one-tenth.

According to President Polyschenko, after February 24th, about 7 to 15 Russian ships gathered around the port and the port function stopped.

For this reason, the company has stopped exporting for a while and is now trying to export from foreign ports via trucks such as Romania and Poland.

"The export volume has decreased to about one-tenth of the normal volume, and even if we include railroads, we cannot carry as much as sea shipping, and there is no solution," said President Polyshenko.

"I hear that Russian mines are being launched into Odesa's beaches every week. This is a problem that remains after the war," he said, resuming exports after the battle. Showed the idea that it is not easy.
