“Given the low risk of importing monkeypox into Russia, smallpox vaccines are currently used exclusively for medical workers who may be at high risk of contracting the virus,” Interfax said in a statement.

The center added that control at border checkpoints in the case of monkeypox is being strengthened in the same way as with other threats of any particularly dangerous infection.

Earlier, the director of the Scientific Information Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Viral Infections, Georgy Vikulov, in an interview with NSN, listed the symptoms of monkeypox infection.
